American Comfort Transportation and Limousines is dedicated to preserving the environment for future generations with our day-to-day actions. The steps we take today towards being green will help to ensure a healthier environment for Southwest Florida residents and visitors to appreciate.
- Vehicles such as stretch Hummers and stretch SUVs will not be a part of American Comfort's fleet. Our stretch limousines are stretch Lincoln Town Cars, making them the most fuel efficient limousines available when purchased.
- All computers and monitors are set to auto sleep when sitting idle.
- Reservation software is helping to keep reservations and confirmations nearly paperless. American Comfort also recycles all computer ink cartridges through a local office supply chain. 60% to 80% of all ink cartridges end up in land fills. Recovery and re-use of ink cartridges diverts millions of cubic feet of material from landfills annually.
- American Comfort keeps its air conditioners off in the garage and maintenance area. We now use new low energy consuming fans in those areas. Our garage area does not use daytime lighting, lighting is natural from several large skylights.
- American Comfort has made a chauffeur compensation plan which has your chauffeur directly responsible for their fuel costs. This has encouraged them not to idle vehicles when waiting, and working to conserve in their driving habits, in regards to acceleration and braking. Our office staff also utilizes the Florida Highway Patrol live website 24 hours a day when our vehicles are on the roads, which allows us to alert your chauffeur by Nextel radio to accidents, traffic jams, and or road closures.
- We have installed vehicle maintenance software which allows for keeping our fleet as fuel efficient as possible. Things like tire air pressure, air filters, tires, air conditioners, are all maintained for peak performance. It also keeps our fleet one of the safest on the road.
- Started a new chauffeur policy in 2009 which allows chauffeurs to take a vehicle home after their day, which reduces consuming fuel just driving back and forth to the office. We also use email for chauffeurs to get their next day's transfers without going to and from the office.
- All of our vehicles are now equipped with GPS navigation virtually making a wrong turn impossible, since the navigation devices immediately redirect the shortest route to the destination.
- We recycle all paper, cardboard, light bulbs, plastic, and electronics. All cleaning products are biodegradable.
- Our vehicle scheduling software keeps vehicles from driving empty (without clients) whenever possible. This reduces average miles per trip average by about 15%.
- American Comfort switched its website and email in 2010 to a new server which works to consume less electricity and lower its footprint.
- Our Web and Email hosting service is one of the most energy efficient companies of its kind. It has adopted Dual-Core AMD Opteron Series processors, which consume less electricity than prior processor models. Also, it has introduced the latest generations of both Intel and AMD low-voltage processors, which generate significant power savings.
